As
new economy companies rapidly grow, how can they sustain the collaborative and
exhilarating work environment of a start-up, without turning into an
unproductive bureaucracy or collapsing like a house of cards?
How
do we understand women’s profound experience of exhilaration and exhaustion in
new economy companies?
We believe, as a result of the findings in our survey of 265 WorldWIT (world-wide women in technology and new economy companies), that women’s experiences may illustrate what is beginning to happen for both men and women working in these companies. Our recent research and our long experience providing leadership development and coaching for women have helped us understand how women navigate stress and risk, and develop strategies to be effective in the new economy. These results go beyond mere anecdotes to provide insight into the sobering realities of life in new economy companies.
We want to thank Liz Ryan, WorldWIT and survey respondents. Your insight, wisdom and support of women will enhance understanding of women in the new economy. As insights solidify into evidence, we hope to learn the leverage points for creating a better workplace for all. To learn more about what we do, check www.glsconsulting.com
